High "veroño" temperatures expected in parts of Spain this weekend!

After rain, snow and wind, sunshine will come and that will happen in the form of a 'veroño' or a 'verano & otoño', a warm period in the autumn months. This weekend, temperatures above 20 degrees are expected on mainland Spain in regions such as Andalusia, the Valencia region and Murcia.

According to the Spanish weather service Aemet, half of Spain, and especially the southern part of the country, will experience higher temperatures this weekend than what is normal this time of the year. Especially along the Mediterranean coast, the mercury rises above 20 degrees, which is why it is also referred to as a 'veroño'.

A 'veroño' is a combination of 'verano' (summer) and 'otoño' (autumn) and is a phenomenon that takes place in autumn when the temperatures are high enough for several days to be compared to a summer.

In this case, the autonomous regions of Andalusia, Murcia and the Valencia region in particular will be affected by the weather phenomenon. In the Canary Islands, as is often the case around this time of the year, the weather is pleasant with summer temperatures.

The Aemet predicts that in the north and northwest of the country in the regions of Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country, Navarra, La Rioja, Aragón and Castile and León, it can still rain heavily locally with snow again from 1,400 meters in the Pyrenees and Picos de Europa.

Regions

On Friday the temperatures in some places in the south and southeast of the country in the provinces of Cádiz, Huelva, Málaga, Almería, Murcia and in the province of Alicante will already rise to 20 degrees or more and on Saturday it will be in those same regions or just as warm or even warmer up to 23 degrees in Murcia or 22 degrees in Málaga. Also on Sundays, the Aemet still talks about delicious 'veroño' -like temperatures between 18 and 22 degrees in the south and southeast of the country.

Canary Islands

As is usually the case in the autumn and winter months, the temperatures in the Canary Islands are lovely. Depending on the island, these fluctuate between 18 and 24 degrees, depending on the day.
