The tour of Spain!

The province of Alicante is ready, the 74th edition of the Vuelta a España starts in this province where the famous cycling round will stay for 3 days. The participating teams will be presented in Moraira on Friday, after which La Vuelta will start on Saturday 24 August at the pink colored salt lakes of Torrevieja.

After the 73rd La Vuelta that started in Málaga, it was already known that the 74th edition would not only start in the province of Alicante but would also stay at least two stages there. No sooner said than done, so La Vuelta a España starts at the Salinas de Torrevieja on Saturday 24 August and will end on 15 September in the center of Madrid.

For the province of Alicante it is the sixth time that the famous Spanish cycling round starts there. The last time was in Benidorm in 2011, 1964 and 1987 and in 1973 in Calpe and in 1977 in Dehesa de Campoamor in Orihuela-Costa.

Alicante

In the province of Alicante a team time trial (contrarreloj) will take place on Saturday 24 August from a salt hill in the Salinas de Torrevieja in the direction of Torrevieja (13.4 km). The first rider starts at 6.56 pm and the finish of the last is expected around 8.30 pm.

On Sunday 25 August the first stage will be driven on the Benidorm-Calpe trail, a total of 199.6 km through, among other things, the hills / mountains in the area such as Confrides, el Alto de Benilloba and Puig Llorença (Cumbre del Sol).

The cyclists will ride through: La Nucía, Polop, Callosa d'en Sarrià, Guadalest, Benimantell, Benifato, Confrides, Benasau, Benilloba, Alcoi, Cocentaina, Muro de Alcoy, L'Alqueria d'Asnar, Benimarfull, Planes, Almudaina, Benillup, Millena, Gorga, Quatretondeta, Facheca, Famorca, Castell de Castells, Benigembla, Alcalali, Xaló, Llíber, Parcent, Senija, Benissa, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell and Teulada-Moraira. The race starts at 12.20 pm and is expected to finish around 5.35 pm.

On Monday, August 26, the 188 km route between Ibi and Alicante starts with the arrival somewhere in the harbor. On this track the cyclists will ride through: Agost, Monforte del Cid, Aspe, Novelda, Monóvar, Petrer, Elda, Sax, Villena, Cañada, Biar, Onil, Castalla, Tibi, Xixona, Busot, El Campello, Mutxamel and Sant Joan d'Alacant. The race starts at 12.53 pm and is expected to finish around 5.35 pm.

Valencia

On Tuesday, August 27, during the 4th stage there will be a race between Cullera where the cyclists finish 175.5 km further in El Puig, both in the province of Valencia. During this stage the cyclists will pass through Favara, Llauri, Corbera, Alcira, Algemesi, Almussafes, Llombai, Real de Montroi, Montserrat, Villamarchante, Ribarroja de Turia, Betera, Serra, Torres Torres, Faura, Quart de les Valls and Puerto de Sagunto. The race starts at 1.19 pm and is expected to finish around 5.35 pm.

On Wednesday, August 28, La Vuelta leaves the province of Valencia via L'Eliana en route to the observatory of Javalambre in the province of Teruel (Aragon). This is a 170.7 km route where it starts at 12.51 and is expected to finish around 17.35.
