From August 9 security personnel strike Barcelona airport. We are happy on the Costa Blanca!

After unsuccessful negotiations between representatives of the company Trablisa and the trade unions representing the security personnel, it seems that the more than 500 employees of the company will go on strike at Barcelona-El Prat airport indefinitely from August 9.

Last July 27 and 28, Iberia's ground staff stopped, causing hundreds of canceled flights or delays. Also during the strike of security personnel from August 9, problems can be expected at the Catalan airport and arrival airport for the city of Barcelona itself but also the Costa Brava, Costa Barcelona and Costa Dorada.

This involves around 500 employees who will be resigning work from 9 August out of dissatisfaction with the salary, lack of extra allowances and work pressure.

The last time this happened was in the summer of 2017 when the strike of the then staff of the company Eulen caused chaos and Guardia Civil and Policia Nacional agents had to be deployed to guarantee safety at Barcelona-El Prat airport.

In fact, the security staff of the Trablisa company wants to earn one euro more per hour because of the risks and work pressure for which they also want to have at least a 10 minute break every 60 minutes. Existing staff must also be better prepared and more staff must be added.

The strike has the support of almost all trade unions with the USO trade union giving no support. The strike must start on 9 August, whereby it must take place 24 hours a day and no end date has been indicated.
