News: Expats in Spain satisfied with the country
According to the annual survey by Internations and the Expat Insider 2018 report, it appears that 90% of all surveyed "expats" are satisfied with life in Spain.
Although there are occasional things that are not so good, almost everyone agrees that living in Spain is proceeding satisfactorily. As a country, Spain is in 8th place out of all 68 countries that have been surveyed, with which Spain has risen two places compared to 2017.
Spain scores well on many fronts in the Quality of Life Index 2018, such as the quality of life where Spain is in third place; Spain is in first place for leisure activities; personal happiness in 7th place; travel and transport 11th place; health and healthcare 8th place; safety 28th place; digital life 23rd place.
Overview
The majority of expats indicate that they have moved to Spain to improve the quality of life. The second reason is that love is on the list and the third is because people just wanted to live in Spain. 96% of respondents say that climate and weather are important factors in relocating to Spain.
86% of expats indicate that health care is good and 81% say that it is affordable. Security in Spain is well rated at 93% but 55% of expats say that political instability has worsened in the last three years while only 11% say it is excellent.
According to this study, the average age of expats is 50, with 56% being male and 44% being female. 62% of expats have a relationship and 38% are single. 23% of expats are British, 13% American and 7% German.
According to the research report, the sun and the nice weather play an important role in which 84% of the respondents give this as a reason that is very important for the choice of Spain. The way in which Spaniards treat foreigners and the way of life is also greatly appreciated by at least 87%.
Feel at home
The expats feel quickly at home in Spain with the country in 7th place (out of 68 countries) in terms of settling in the country and 5 in terms of feeling at home. Spain is in 14th place for friendliness, 15 for finding friends and 19 for language.
To work
With regard to working in Spain, the country does not score so well at position 43 and also with regard to career opportunities and job prospects, Spain is low at position 41. Spain scores better at position 16 for work and leisure, but when asked Spain has a very low position in terms of economy and job security 54.
Family
With regard to family life, Spain is in 13th place; childcare and education at position 12; the costs of childcare and education in position 11; quality of education at position 28 and family well-being at position 4.
Cost
When asked about personal expenses and finances, Spain scores on average at position 39, while Spain is at position 12 for the cost of living. In terms of salary improvement, Spain scores extremely poorly and the country is in 64th place (out of 68), with almost all expats agreeing to earn more with the same job in the country of birth.
