News: Summer heat coming in Spain with a maximum of 28 degrees
According to the Spanish weather service AEMET, large parts of the mainland of Spain and the islands will have to deal with a summer heat this weekend.
A warm air flow will cause the mercury to rise to 28 degrees in some places. Temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees or even 15 degrees higher along the Mediterranean coast than what is normal for the end of February.
According to the AEMET, the highest temperatures will be measured in the south of the Iberian peninsula, or the Spanish mainland. In Andalusia it will be warm in summer with maximums of 28 degrees, although the temperatures in most places are between 24 and 26 degrees.
The Spanish weather service gives some indications of expected temperatures such as 25 to 28 degrees in Córdoba, Salamanca and Soria 24 degrees, Gerona 23 degrees, Bilbao, Sevilla and Teruel 21 degrees and Madrid and Zaragoza 20 degrees.
The highest temperatures will be measured on Saturday and Sunday, such as 28 degrees in Córdoba, 27 degrees in Seville, 25 degrees in Badajoz or in the Canary Islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria and 24 degrees in Málaga, Madrid and Granada.
The heat is due to a high-pressure area centered in Western Europe, sending masses of hot air to Spain.
