News: In 40 years Spain will have the highest life expectancy
A study by the University of Washington has shown that in 40 years Spain is the country with the highest life expectancy.
At the moment, Spain is in fourth place, but in 40 years the inhabitants in Spain will average 85.8 years old.
At the moment life expectancy in Spain is 82.9 years on average, putting Spain in fourth place in a list of 195 countries. First, Japan is followed by Switzerland on the second and Singapore on the third place.
According to the University of Washington, this should be different in 40 years and Spain will be in first place with regard to life expectancy that has to rise to 85.8 years old. In another scenario and in the best possible situation, that age is even 4.5 years higher and the life expectancy will even be 87.4 years.
In 2016, the ten most common causes of death in Spain were heart disease, Alzheimer's disease, lung cancer, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, breast cancer, suicide, other cardiovascular diseases, and infections of the lower respiratory tract.
In 2040, however, it is expected that the main reasons for premature death in Spain are: Alzheimer's disease, ischemic heart disease, lung cancer, rectal cancer, stroke, chronic kidney disease, other cardiovascular diseases, pancreatic cancer and diabetes.
