2019 closed with 275.2 million aircraft passengers in Spain!

The Spanish airport manager Aena has announced the annual figures for the number of passengers and aircraft for 2019. From this it can be concluded that the number of aircraft passengers has risen by 4.4% in the past year to 275.2 million over 2.3 million aircraft that used the 46 airports managed by Aena.

Of the total of 275.2 million passengers, 61.7 million (+ 6.6%) used Spain's largest and busiest airport Madrid-Barajas. The airport of the capital of Spain is followed by Barcelona-El Prat with 52.6 million (+ 5%) passengers and Palma de Mallorca with 29.7 million (2.2%) passengers.

Málaga airport handled 19.85 million passengers in 2019, while it was 15.1 million at Alicante-Elche airport, 13.3 million on Gran Canaria and 11.2 million on Tenerife South.

Companies

According to Aena, Ryanair has carried the most passengers in Spain with a total of 46.6 million people. Vueling is in second place with 29.1 million passengers followed by Iberia and Iberia Express with 23.2 million passengers, Easyjet with 17.9 million, Air Europa with 13.1 million, Norwegian with 8.3 million, Jet2.com with 8 million and Air Nostrum with 5.3 million passengers. TUI Fly had 1,673,080 passengers last year for Spain, KLM 1,637,601 passengers, Brussels Airlines 1,513,828 passengers and Transavia 1,204,451 passengers.

Dutch people

According to Aena's annual figures, a total of 8,759,462 passengers flew to Spain during 2019. 5.9 million were from Amsterdam-Schiphol, 1.8 million from Eindhoven Airport, 846,133 from Rotterdam Airport, 106,409 from Maastricht-Aachen, 69,898 from Groningen-Eelde, Enschede-Twente 77, Weert-Budel 54 and Lelystad 42 passengers.

Belgium

According to Aena's annual figures, a total of 6,230,367 passengers flew to Spain during 2019. 4.3 million were from Brussels Airport, 1.4 from Brussels-Charleroi, Ostend-Bruges 270,269, Antwerp-Deurne 142,464, Liège-Bierset 92,771, Kortrijk-Wevelgem 764 and Melsbroek 219.
