 News: More and more Dutch people are coming to Spain for wine tourism

More and more foreigners are coming to Spain to enjoy the cultural and gastronomic highlights that the country has to offer.

One of those components is also the excellent Spanish wine that can be tasted, consumed and purchased during wine tourism (ecoturismo). There is also a growing number of Dutch people traveling to "España" for the "vinos".

Wine tourism (enoturismo) is tasting, consuming or purchasing wine, often at the source. Wine tourism can include visits to vintners, tastings or restaurants. There are also special wine festivals for wine tourism. Many regions known for their wine make a lot of money on wine tourism.

An average wine tourist spends about 500 euros per day, which is many times more than the "Costa" tourist. Also in Spain there is a lot of "turismo enológico" like in the towns and regions Jerez, Jumilla, Rias Baixas, Ribera del Duero, Priorat, Navarra, Rioja (Rioja Alta, Rioja Baja, Rioja Alavesa), Penedès, La Mancha, Somontano, Alicante , Yecla, Montilla Moriles, Ribera del Guadiana and Tenerife.

There is a growing number of foreigners coming to Spain to enjoy wine, gastronomy and culture, including more and more Dutch, Americans, Canadians, Australians, British, Germans and Scandinavians.

The most famous regions for wine tourism among the foreigners are, according to Asociación Española, the Enoturismo y Turismo Gastronomico (AEEG): Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Priorato, Penedés, Jerez. These areas are close to cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebastián, Bilbao, Segovia and Seville, making wine and culture easy to combine.
