More and more foreigners come to Spain to enjoy the cultural and gastronomic highlights that the country has to offer. One of those elements is the excellent Spanish wine that can be tasted, consumed and purchased during wine tourism (ecoturismo). There is also a growing number of Dutch people who travel to "España" for "vinos".

Wine tourism (enoturismo) is the tasting, consumption or purchase of wine, often at the source. Wine tourism can include visits to winemakers, tastings or restaurants. There are also special wine festivals for wine tourism. Many regions known for their wine earn a lot of money from wine tourism.

An average wine tourist quickly spends around 500 euros a day, which is many times more than the "Costa" tourist. Also in Spain there is a lot of "turismo enológico" such as in the places and regions Jerez, Jumilla, Rias Baixas, Ribera del Duero, Priorat, Navarra, Rioja (Rioja Alta, Rioja Baja, Rioja Alavesa), Penedès, La Mancha, Somontano, Alicante , Yecla, Montilla Moriles, Ribera del Guadiana and on Tenerife.

There is a growing number of foreigners who come to Spain to enjoy wine, gastronomy and culture, including more and more Dutch, Americans, Canadians, Australians, British, Germans and Scandinavians.

According to Asociación Española, the best-known regions for wine tourism with foreigners are the Enoturismo y Turismo Gastronómico (AEEG): Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Priorato, Penedés, Jerez. These areas are close to cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebastián, Bilbao, Segovia and Seville, making wine and culture easy to combine.
