See here all holidays in Spain for 2020!
2 Jan 2020

In October 2019, the Spanish government announced the holidays for 2020 from which can be read that there are 14 holidays, of which 8 are celebrated throughout Spain. 4 of these holidays can be exchanged for another day and are determined per autonomous region while 2 other days are determined by the municipalities at the local level. An overview of all holidays, national and regional.

A large part of the holidays (free working days) fall on a Friday or Monday in 2020, which means there are more long weekends of three days than 'puentes' of four days.

8 of the 14 days are national 'non-exchangeable' public holidays which therefore apply to all autonomous regions and to all residents of Spain:

Wednesday, January 1 (New Year / Año Nuevo)

Monday, January 6 (Epiphany del Señor)

Friday, April 10 (Good Friday / Viernes Santo)

Friday May 1 (Labor Day / Día del Trabajador)

Saturday, August 15 (Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Ascension / Asunción de la Virgen)

Monday, October 12 (Día de Hispanidad / Fiesta Nacional de España)

Tuesday, December 8 (Immaculate Conception of Mary / Inmaculada Concepción)

Friday, December 25 (Christmas / Navidad)

There are 4 public holidays that apply to the whole of Spain but can be replaced by the different regions or can be placed on other days such as:

Thursday, March 19 (San José) (in Valencia region, Basque Country, Navarre, Murcia, Galicia and Castilla-La Mancha)

Thursday, April 9 (White Thursday / Jueves Santo) (except in Catalonia and Valencia region)

Monday, April 13 (Easter Monday / Lunes Pascua) (in the Balearic Islands and in Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, La Rioja, Navarra, Basque Country and Valencia region)

Monday, November 2 (All Saints' Day / Todos los Santos) (moved in many regions from Sunday, November 1)

Monday, December 7 (Day of the Constitution / Día de la Constitución) (moved in many regions from Sunday, December 6)

For all holidays, one must add the regional holiday such as the day of Andalusia, the day of Catalonia, etc. so that the total number of days off is 14.
