News: Real Madrid gets renewed stadium worth 575 million euros
25 Sep 2018

The members have chosen, chairman Florentino Pérez has received permission on Sunday to rebuild the current Santiago Bernabeu stadium. The Royal Dutch Government is going to take out a loan of EUR 575 million to repay the sports club within 35 years.

Real Madrid must therefore get the most modern and best football stadium of the 21st century. For the management of the club, the loan should not be a problem as it expects to earn 572 euros this year. With the new loan of 575 million euros Real Madrid will pay about 25 million euros per year, which according to the chairman is only 4% of the income.

The work has to take three years and six months, but a start date has not yet been given. There are now photos and videos to see how the new Santiago Bernabeu should look like, but the final plans will only be announced next year.

There is not only praise for the new plans adopted by a majority of the votes, but also criticism. Some say that the renewed stadium looks like a Star Wars movie on a spaceship and has nothing to do with a football stadium.
