Golden sand beaches of the highest quality in Guardamar del Segura!

A spectacular 800-hectare dune forest in the Spanish Mediterranean; the 11 km long beaches of golden sand of the highest quality; the surrounding orchard; small elevations with views over the river and the sea; the small fishing port and the neighboring salt lakes. Welcome to Guardamar del Segura!

Guardamar del Segura is located on the coast in the province of Alicante, in Valencia. Many city trips are booked to Guardamar for its idyllic beaches, but this town has so much more to offer.

For example, this unique place has countless monuments, so you will not be bored for a moment. Start your outing at the Castillo de Guardamar. This early 12th-century Arab fortress was severely damaged in March 1829 in a violent earthquake, but you can still admire the ancient ring walls and the polygonal floor.

The next stop is the Parroquia de San Jaime Apóstol, an imposing neoclassical church building with three naves. The church is conveniently located in the heart of the old town, right opposite the town hall.

The Rábita Califal is perhaps the most special tourist attraction you can discover in Guardamar del Segura. This ribat, which has been declared a cultural heritage, dates back to the year 944 and consists of an Islamic monastery and several houses where a Muslim community devoted to this spiritual place lived. The area was inhabited until the 11th century.

The ribat is located in the Dunas de Guardamar, a piece of nature not to be missed. These dunes were formed by sand that was spread directly from the sea along the coastline of the town. Stroll barefoot through the area and completely unwind as you breathe in the invigorating air of the sea breeze.

If, despite all this natural beauty, you still need something else, you can take a trip to the particularly interesting Museo Arqueológico de Guardamar. Here you can delve deeper into the history of the city: from the Phoenicians to the Iberian, Roman and Islamic eras.

You can of course also relax on the beautiful white sandy beaches which are unique in Europe!
