What do you need to enter Spain from November 23rd?
From November 23, traveling to Spain will be slightly more difficult and in some cases also more expensive. From that date, all travelers - both those with Spanish and foreign nationalities - must comply with two formalities when entering Spain via an airport or port.
Formality 1:
Health check formYou must electronically complete and sign the Health Check Form (GCF) no later than 48 hours before you travel to the Spanish mainland and the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands. The form is available through the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) portal or the apps for Android or iOS devices. After signing, you will receive a QR code that you must show upon arrival in the Canary Islands (valid both digitally and printed on paper). Remember that you are required to fill in a separate form per trip and per person. This SpTH form must already be completed for everyone coming from outside Spain since June 21 and serves as a means to carry out a possible source and contact investigation.
Formality 2:
Negative PCR test Everyone who comes from a high-risk country (including the Netherlands and Belgium) and who enters Spain via an airport or port must have a document with them from 23 November on which contains the results of a negative PCR test. This PCR test must not be older than 72 hours. This means that it must be taken within 72 hours before departure. The only valid test at this time is a PCR test (not an antigen test). This negative PCR test requirement applies to all of Spain, including mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. For the time being, anyone regardless of age who travels to Spain from high-risk countries must show and / or carry the results of a PCR test. NOTE: The negative PCR test requirement only applies to those travelers who reach Spanish territory via the airports and ports. This PCR test requirement does NOT apply to travelers who enter Spain by their own road transport. If you try to enter Spain from 23 November without the mandatory negative PCR test results, you can expect a fine of up to 6,000 euros. After arrival, a rapid test can be taken at the airport, which must also be paid by the traveler who must therefore be quarantined.
And the Canary Islands?
The Corona test and PCR test requirement in the Canary Islands is still very uncertain. That is to say, since November 14, everyone staying in a tourist accommodation on the islands must show the negative test results of a corona test (i.e. PCR or antigen test) before being admitted to a hotel, apartment complex, etc. This does not apply to those travelers who go to their own home or come to visit family and / or friends and spend the night there. But from 23 November, every traveler entering Spain, including the Canary Islands, must show, or at least carry with them, the results of a negative PCR test (i.e. no antigen test). This applies to everyone, even if you go to your own holiday home or to family / friends.
